General

What is ClipCard?

ClipCard is a custom iOS keyboard for the data you retype every day: IBANs, tax IDs, card numbers, billing addresses, wallet addresses and notes. You save each one once in the app, and then the keyboard inserts it for you inside any other app. The vault in the app is what feeds the keyboard.

What types of data can I store?

There are 10 types, and all 10 are free:

• Credit and debit cards - Card numbers, with camera scanning
• Crypto wallets, tokens and NFTs - Addresses tagged by network
• Recovery phrases and BIP39 passphrases - Kept in the app, never sent to the keyboard
• 2FA secrets - For generating verification codes inside the app
• Phone numbers - Important contacts
• URLs - Links and web addresses
• Free text - IBANs, tax IDs, addresses, saved replies, anything else

What iOS version do I need?

ClipCard requires iOS 17 or later. This allows us to use Apple's latest security and privacy technologies.

Is it available?

Yes, it is on the App Store. There is also a public TestFlight beta if you want to try the next version early.

The keyboard

Can the keyboard connect to the internet?

No, and this is the part you can check yourself. The keyboard extension declares Full Access as off, and without Full Access iOS blocks a keyboard from the network entirely. Open iOS Settings, go to General, Keyboard, Keyboards, and tap ClipCard: there is no Full Access switch waiting to be turned on.

Does my data go through the clipboard?

No. The keyboard inserts text straight into the field you are typing in, so nothing is left on the system clipboard for another app to read afterwards. Copying from inside the app itself does use the clipboard, and those copies clear themselves automatically.

Does the keyboard use Face ID?

Not by itself. An iOS keyboard extension cannot invoke Face ID at all. What happens in ClipCard is that you unlock the app with Face ID, the app mints a short-lived encrypted token, and the keyboard reads it, which keeps the keyboard open for a few minutes. You choose whether that window lasts 1, 5 or 15 minutes. The only thing the keyboard asks for on its own is a 4-digit PIN.

Can the keyboard change or delete my clips?

No. It is read-only. It reads an encrypted snapshot of the clips you chose to expose and it can insert text. It has no way to create, edit or delete anything in your vault, and it cannot even extend its own unlock.

How do suggestions work if it cannot see my data?

The suggestion engine runs on your iPhone and is handed only the title and the type of a clip, never its text. The structure it receives has no field for the secret at all, so ranking "IBAN, main account" above "Billing address" never involves reading either one.

What never reaches the keyboard?

Recovery phrases, BIP39 passphrases and 2FA secrets. They are excluded for everyone, on both plans. The 2FA code generator lives inside the app.

Features

How does card scanning work?

Using your iPhone's camera, ClipCard reads the card number with Apple's Vision framework, entirely on your device. Images are never stored or sent anywhere. The expiry date and the CVV are not scanned: you type those yourself.

How does iCloud sync work?

If you enable iCloud sync, your data is saved to the private database of your own iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit, which is how it reaches your other Apple devices. Apple encrypts it in transit and at rest, and if you turn on Advanced Data Protection in your iOS settings it becomes end-to-end encrypted. No ClipCard server is involved at any point. You can disable sync anytime from the app settings.

Can I organize my data?

Yes. There is search, drag and drop reordering, and you can link clips to your iPhone contacts to group them.

Plans and pricing

What is free?

Unlimited clips of all 10 types. Reading, copying, pasting, searching, plain JSON export and import, camera scanning, iCloud sync, Face ID, 3 of the 6 themes, and the keyboard itself carrying 3 clips. Neither plan has ads.

What does Pro add?

Every saved clip reachable from the keyboard instead of 3, a password-protected AES-256-GCM backup file, and three extra themes. That is the whole list.

Is there a limit on how many clips I can save?

No. The vault is unlimited and free. The number 3 on the free plan is how many clips reach the keyboard, not how many you can keep. The rest stay in the app, fully readable, copyable and exportable.

What does it cost?

$2.99 a month with a 1 week free trial, $19.99 a year with a 2 week free trial, or $49.99 once for lifetime access. The lifetime option is a single purchase and never renews. The App Store shows the price for your region.

Is any security feature behind the paywall?

No, and it never will be. Face ID, the encryption and the keyboard's inability to reach the network are identical on both plans. Pro sells how much the keyboard can carry, not how well it is locked. No paywall ever blocks access to data you already saved.

Security & Privacy

Is my data secure?

Yes. ClipCard implements multiple layers of security:

• All data is encrypted at rest using iOS Data Protection, with complete file protection, so the database is unreadable while the device is locked
• Biometric authentication (Face ID/Touch ID) or passcode is required to open the app
• The snapshot the keyboard reads is encrypted with AES-256-GCM
• CVV codes live in the iOS Keychain, on that device only, and never sync
• The app makes no network requests of its own, at all

Do you have access to my information?

No. We do not have access to your data. We cannot read, decrypt, or recover your stored information. Your data is stored only on your device and, if enabled, in your private iCloud account.

How does Face ID/Touch ID work?

Biometric authentication is handled entirely by iOS. ClipCard only receives a success or failure response from the system. We never access or store your biometric data.

What happens to camera scanner images?

Images captured by the scanner are processed entirely on your device and discarded immediately after extracting the card number. They are not stored or transmitted to any server.

What data do you collect about me?

None. There is no analytics SDK, no crash reporting service, no advertising identifier and no user account in the app. It has no networking code at all, so there is nothing to opt out of. The only external library it uses is AnyFormatKit, which formats text as you type it and sends nothing anywhere.

Data Management

How do I delete my data?

You have several options:

• Delete individual items directly from the app
• Delete all data from the app settings
• Uninstall the app to remove all local data

Can I take my data with me?

Yes, on the free plan too. Plain JSON export is never gated. Recovery phrases, BIP39 passphrases and 2FA secrets are deliberately left out of an unencrypted export; to take those with you, use the password-protected backup.

Can I use the app without iCloud?

Yes. iCloud sync is optional. You can keep all your data on your device only by disabling sync in the app settings.
